Paraffin Wax + Chocolate

I am making cookies with Ritz crackers, peanut butter and chocolate. I'd like to add paraffin to the chocolate to keep it from melting so easy. I am using 12 oz bags of chocolate chip pieces. How much paraffin should I use? Do I just stick the bar of wax in with the chocolate?

Also, I bought the paraffin at Walmart and the only kind they had was Gulf Wax. Has anybody used this?

Thanks for your help!

*All of your responses were very helpful! Thank you!

I've used gulf wax for my paraffin cooking needs before with no complaints.

I've used it too, when I've melted choc for dipping chilled, pre-made, nougat-y centers. You are talking about mixing the wax into the choc for dipping/coating, right?

Mine is a very old recipe, but you can get the jist of the amount: around 10 candy-counter-sized Hershey bars to one slab of paraffin. (I think Gulf comes four slabs to the carton, right?)

Hope that helps!

No idea on the wax, but if you switch out the chocolate for white chocolate, you end up with really yummy fake Butterfingers.

I use Gulf Wax in chocolate to dip candies in. If it's the type that comes in rectangular slabs, I use half of one slab to one bag of chocolate chips and I melt the wax first in a double boiler before adding the chocolate.

Adding wax to chocolate...? And it's edible? Mind blown.

What exactly does it do?

This is my first time using it, but I read that the wax is supposed to give the chocolate that glossy look as well as help it to not melt as easy. My first batch of cookies were good, but they melted very easy and got all over your fingers. I made them with the wax last night and they began to harden almost immediately. They didn't melt all over my fingers either.
