tips?

 I attempted to make Oreo truffles but had trouble coating the Oreo balls with melted chocolate.  I melted some chocolate chips in a double boiler and used chopsticks to lift the balls out, but the chopsticks removed the chocolate where they came in contact with the Oreos.

What can I do to make a very smooth, evenly coated cookie ball?  I may try a higher quality chocolate bar instead of chips, but I'm not sure how to lift the balls out without removing some of the chocolate from the surface.  Would forks or toothpicks be a lot easier to use for the task?  Thanks for your help.

(I know it's not exactly cooking, but it's not baking either - if there is a more suitable comm to post this too, please let me know)
